The map leads to the rarest structure that generates on the surface, and the trip is the real cost: mansions only appear in dark forest, and dark forest is uncommon enough that the arrow often points thousands of blocks away.

Inside are vindicators and evokers, and the evoker is the reason people go. It is the only mob in the game that drops a totem of undying, which saves you from a death you would otherwise not survive. The mansion also holds chest rooms with enchanted books and diamonds, but the totem is what makes the map worth its emeralds.

Vindicators and evokers exist in raids and in this one building, and the evoker is the only source of the totem of undying, which is the item that brings you back at one heart instead of letting you die.

That totem is the reason anybody makes the trip. A mansion usually holds several evokers, so a cleared mansion is several totems, and nothing else in the game hands them out.

The building itself is worth looting for the enchanted gear and the odd hidden room, but go prepared: the rooms are unlit, the mobs are inside them, and a mansion at night with no plan is how people lose their armour.
