WANDERING TRADER

The Wandering Trader is not a villager profession at all, and that shows the moment it spawns: there is no job-site block to place for it, no Novice-to-Master ladder to climb, and no reputation or curing mechanic that touches its prices. It simply appears near the player on its own schedule, arriving in a puff alongside 2 leashed trader llamas that follow it wherever it walks, and it leaves again after roughly 40 to 60 minutes whether or not you traded with it.

What it offers each time is drawn fresh from three separate pools rather than fixed like a job villager's stock. It buys 2 of 6 possible items from you, and sells 5 of 78 common offers plus 2 of 16 rarer ones, so any two traders you meet can look completely different from each other. The common pool alone counts every dye color on its own, which is why the game tracks 78 offers there even though this site lists dye as one combined row: pick a specific dye color and it is rarer than the headline number suggests, since that single row is really sixteen different offers wearing one name.

Prices run from 1 emerald for fern up to 6 emeralds for blue ice, and that is before counting the rare pool's one wildcard: the enchanted iron pickaxe has no fixed price at all, it rolls anywhere from 6 to 20 emeralds depending on the enchantment it spawns with. Every offer also carries its own use limit, and because the Wandering Trader never restocks, once a slot runs dry that is the end of it for this particular visit.

The reason it is worth flagging down anyway is what it is the only source for. No job villager on this site sells crop seeds at all, the Farmer buys full-grown crops but never sells the seed that grows them, so wheat, beetroot, pumpkin and melon seeds only come from this trader (or from breaking grass, which is far less reliable). The same goes for coral blocks: brain, bubble, fire, horn and tube coral block are exclusive to its common pool, with no job villager offering any of them. Add the 2 escort llamas, worth killing or leashing for a free lead each, and this is less a shop and more a rolling grab bag that is worth checking every time it wanders into view.

• It despawns no matter what: a Wandering Trader leaves after 40 to 60 minutes regardless of whether you have traded with it. Check its stock as soon as it shows up rather than finishing whatever you were doing first.
• Cheapest pickup: the lowest-cost offer on the common pool is fern for 1 emerald, so a Wandering Trader is a cheap way to grab single plants and saplings for a build rather than a serious emerald sink.
• Nothing you do to it changes its prices: there is no tier system, no career XP, and no curing discount. The 2 buy offers, 5 common offers and 2 rare offers it rolled when it spawned are the only ones you get from that particular trader, full stop.
• The only source for seeds and coral: no job villager sells crop seeds or coral blocks anywhere on this site. If a Wandering Trader rolls any of the 4 seed offers or 5 coral block offers in its common pool, that is the easiest way to get them short of breaking grass or diving for coral yourself.
• Free leads, and watch for the rolled price: killing the trader or either of its 2 llamas drops a lead each. Its rare pool can also include the enchanted iron pickaxe, priced anywhere from 6 to 20 emeralds since the enchantment it rolls with sets the cost, so check what it actually does before paying the top of that range.
