GOLDEN DANDELION

Unlike the four flowers on the trader's shelf that only ever come from the ground, this one has a recipe: a crafting grid turns 8 gold nugget and 1 dandelion into one golden dandelion. Buying it from the trader for 2 emeralds skips that assembly step entirely, at the cost of paying more than the ordinary yellow flower it is built from.

Dandelion and Wildflowers also turn into the same yellow dye, so the gilded version buys nothing extra on the color side, only the look of the flower itself.

One offer, one villager. The Wandering Trader charges 2 emeralds for 1 golden dandelion, and there is no trade anywhere that hands emeralds back for it.

No job villager stocks it either, which fits the pattern of every crafted decoration in the game: professions deal in raw goods and equipment, not in finished flowers.

He asks 2 emeralds each, and 50 of the other 75 come cheaper. Price is the easy part: he draws his stock from a shared pool, so catching one that happens to be carrying golden dandelion is the real constraint.

The Wandering Trader asks 2 emeralds for a golden dandelion. 8 of the 72 villagers that pay emeralds, emptied out:

2 diamonds against 52 flint for the same 2 emeralds, 26 times the carrying, and the shortest wait is the Farmer at 1.3 real minutes of shelf, gathering not counted.

The Wandering Trader operates completely outside village mechanics. He spawns near the player unprompted, two leashed llamas at his side, sticks around for something like forty minutes to an hour, and vanishes again whether or not anyone traded with him. There is no workstation behind him and no job block to influence his stock.

Buying it back off you is not something he does. His purchase list covers six fixed items and this crafted flower is not one of them, so every emerald in the trade moves toward him, never back the other way.

Getting one from him at all depends on whether the slice of stock he rolled for that spawn happens to include it, since he only ever shows part of his full list. Naming a trader who has it stops the despawn clock, so a passing encounter becomes a shop you can return to.

Crafting your own is almost always cheaper once you have the gold and the dandelion in hand, so this trade mostly makes sense for players who are short on gold nuggets rather than short on the flower. A full stack from the trader instead comes to 128 emeralds over 64 trades.

His flower stock tends to arrive in bunches, so check the rest of the list before leaving. Also on the wandering trader's list: name tag, packed ice, blue ice, gunpowder, podzol and potion of invisibility.

Eight gold nuggets around one dandelion, the same shape as the golden carrot and the golden apple. What you get is a flower rather than a food, and it still crafts down into ordinary yellow dye if you ever change your mind about it.

The point of it is display. It is a flower that is worth something, which is a rare thing in a game where flowers are the cheapest decoration there is, and it reads as gold from across a room.

Since the dandelion half costs nothing, the price is entirely the gold: a full ingot's worth of nuggets per flower, which is worth knowing before planting a border of them.
