Moss Block in Minecraft trading
Moss Block is a Wandering Trader exclusive: no job villager buys or sells it at all, so the roaming merchant with the two llamas is the only source, at 1 emerald for 2.
Moss Block is a landscape block, so the trade is really paying for the trip to the biome that has it. No recipe in Java 26.2 produces it: it is gathered from the world rather than made. 2 of them make 3 moss carpet.

The 1 trade on this item was read out of the trade files Minecraft Java 26.2 ships in its own data, checked on against the item, both amounts and the use limit. Bedrock 1.26.30.5 is read as well, and where it disagrees the row says how. Which files, and what is not checked.
Your odds of finding Moss Block
A villager only shows part of its trade table, so knowing who trades moss block is not the same as getting it. The friendliest roll here is the wandering trader (common pool): 6.6% of them carry it, so it takes about 15.2 of them on average before one does.
| Villager | Tier | Villagers with this offer | Rolls to see it | Most from one villager | After a cure |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wandering Trader | common pool | 6.6% (5 in 76)same in Bedrock | about 15.2 | 10 moss block in total5 uses, he never restocks | cannot be cured |
The chance is the draw size over the pool size in the game's own trade set file for that tier. The Bedrock line under it is the same sum on Bedrock's own table, which splits a tier into groups and draws out of each one separately, so the two editions often disagree. The wandering trader has no workstation and never restocks, so his row is everything that offer will ever give you, and he has no reputation to earn, so curing does nothing for him. Counted from the game's own draw sizes. How that check works.
Who trades Moss Block, and at what price
The Wandering Trader sells Moss Block for 1 emerald for 2. He does not buy moss block back: that offer runs one way.
No standard villager profession lists Moss Block in its trade table, so the trader above is the whole market for it.
Is buying Moss Block from the Wandering Trader worth it?
He asks 1 emerald for 2, which works out at well under an emerald each, and 18 of the other 75 come cheaper. Price is the easy part: he draws his stock from a shared pool, so catching one that happens to be carrying moss block is the real constraint.

What 1 emerald costs in goods
The Wandering Trader asks 1 emerald for 2 moss blocks. 8 of the 72 villagers that pay emeralds, emptied out:

| 12 dark oak boats | master Fisherman | 12 | 24 moss blocks |
| 48 books | apprentice Librarian | 12 | 24 moss blocks |

a dark oak boat against 24 paper for the same 1 emerald, 24 times the carrying, and the shortest wait is the Farmer at 37.5 real seconds of shelf, gathering not counted.
How to actually get Moss Block from the trader
The Wandering Trader is not part of any village. He arrives on his own near where you are playing, with two leashed trader llamas behind him, stays for roughly forty minutes to an hour, and then vanishes whether or not you traded with him. There is no workstation to place and no job block to break, so the usual tricks for steering a villager toward a particular offer do nothing.
He does not buy moss block. He takes six kinds of item and this is not one of them, so the offer runs one way: emeralds out of your inventory, moss block into it.
Each trader carries only a slice of the full stock list, so the one standing in front of you may simply not have moss block today. If he does and you want more than one visit's worth, put a name tag on him: a named mob will not despawn, which turns a passing merchant into a permanent shop you can come back to.
Tips for trading Moss Block
- What a full stack costs: he asks 1 emerald for 2 moss blocks, so a full stack of 64 comes to 32 emeralds.
- Also on the wandering trader's list: cactus, acacia sapling, oak sapling, birch sapling, spruce sapling, dark oak sapling.
