Pumpkin Seeds in Minecraft trading

Pumpkin Seeds is a Wandering Trader exclusive: no job villager buys or sells it at all, so the roaming merchant with the two llamas is the only source, at 1 emerald each.

Pumpkin Seeds is the starting point of a farm rather than a one-off purchase. Plant it, harvest it, and it replaces itself several times over, so a single trade can seed an entire crop field. A crafting grid makes 4 at a time from 1 × pumpkin. It also sits in 4 of the game's chest loot tables.

The 1 trade on this item was read out of the trade files Minecraft Java 26.2 ships in its own data, checked on against the item, both amounts and the use limit. Bedrock 1.26.30.5 is read as well, and where it disagrees the row says how. Which files, and what is not checked.

Your odds of finding Pumpkin Seeds

A villager only shows part of its trade table, so knowing who trades pumpkin seeds is not the same as getting it. The friendliest roll here is the wandering trader (common pool): 6.6% of them carry it, so it takes about 15.2 of them on average before one does.

The chance is the draw size over the pool size in the game's own trade set file for that tier. The Bedrock line under it is the same sum on Bedrock's own table, which splits a tier into groups and draws out of each one separately, so the two editions often disagree. The wandering trader has no workstation and never restocks, so his row is everything that offer will ever give you, and he has no reputation to earn, so curing does nothing for him. Counted from the game's own draw sizes. How that check works.

Who trades Pumpkin Seeds, and at what price

The Wandering Trader sells Pumpkin Seeds for 1 emerald each. He does not buy pumpkin seeds back: that offer runs one way.

No standard villager profession lists Pumpkin Seeds in its trade table, so the trader above is the whole market for it.

Is buying Pumpkin Seeds from the Wandering Trader worth it?

He asks 1 emerald each, and 42 of the other 75 come cheaper. Price is the easy part: he draws his stock from a shared pool, so catching one that happens to be carrying pumpkin seeds is the real constraint.

What 1 emerald costs in goods

How to actually get Pumpkin Seeds from the trader

The Wandering Trader is not part of any village. He arrives on his own near where you are playing, with two leashed trader llamas behind him, stays for roughly forty minutes to an hour, and then vanishes whether or not you traded with him. There is no workstation to place and no job block to break, so the usual tricks for steering a villager toward a particular offer do nothing.

He does not buy pumpkin seeds. He takes six kinds of item and this is not one of them, so the offer runs one way: emeralds out of your inventory, pumpkin seeds into it.

Each trader carries only a slice of the full stock list, so the one standing in front of you may simply not have pumpkin seeds today. If he does and you want more than one visit's worth, put a name tag on him: a named mob will not despawn, which turns a passing merchant into a permanent shop you can come back to.

Pumpkin Seeds trading FAQ

Which villager sells Pumpkin Seeds?
None of them. Only the Wandering Trader carries pumpkin seeds, at 1 emerald each. There is no profession to level for it and no trading hall to build.
Can you sell Pumpkin Seeds to a villager for emeralds?
No. The trader only ever sells, and no job villager lists pumpkin seeds in its trade table either, so there is no way to turn pumpkin seeds into emeralds by trading.
